“There has to be an easier way,” Allison Donovan offered to her brother-in-law, as they tried to make sense of the myriad Web sites, countless products and exhaustive books on ‘going green.’ Allie, a 32-year-old mother of two active kids, added, “I think our generation cares and wants to do the right, ‘green’ thing. But where do we begin?” Out of that conversation grew a new company – and a new notion of what it takes to live a greener life. In 2008, Doug Donovan and his sister-in-law, Allison Donovan, launched Jumpstart to Green.
Jumpstart to Green gives people like Allie a place to begin. Our research shows that the vast majority of America’s 110 million households are seeking a greener lifestyle. But the challenge seems so great that they don’t know where to start. The good news is that small changes make a big difference. That’s what Jumpstart to Green is all about: Save a little. Save a lot. Save the planet. We’ve carefully selected the best products and resources and developed clever tools to help you make simple but meaningful changes in your life. Jumpstart to Green delivers a one-purchase solution to jumpstart your movement toward greener living. We believe that simple changes, undertaken by many, can make a huge collective difference.
As part of our commitment to green, Boston-based Jumpstart to Green is a virtual company with no climate controlled corporate office, no internal memos filling the recycle bin and no commuter workforce. Like you, we want to reduce our carbon footprint, preserve resources and make the world a healthier place for our kids.
About Doug Donovan:
With an MBA from Berkeley, Doug successfully manages the seemingly endless struggle between the businessman and environmentalist within. This drove him to launch Jumpstart to Green, a business that balances both forces and addresses a real need in American households to overcome the inertia of getting their green lifestyle going.
Doug’s background includes building a ski area – in the most environmentally friendly way possible – and launching a software company. In his spare time, Doug is known to quiz 10-year-olds about what they want to be when they grow up – mostly because he is looking for ideas.
About Allison Donovan:
Allison Donovan graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire but prides herself on having her finger on the pulse of the American mom. From the hottest strollers to the latest TMZ news, Allie is dialed-in. In many ways, this mother of two tireless kids represents the consumer that Jumpstart hopes to reach – a mom who is concerned about the environment, wants to do her part, but struggles to find the time to do the research and make the household and lifestyle changes because of the demands on her time.
Allison’s professional experience includes her role as an Associate Developer and Trainer for both Cambridge Technology Partners and Novell, Inc. As such, everyone expects her kids to be technical whizzes by their 10th birthdays.
